Even the name of this place is mentioned in different holy books of Hindu religion. As per Buddhist mythology, Vajrayana Buddhists believe this place to be the birthplace of Buddha Cakrasamvara. As per Jainism, this is the place where the first Jain -Tirthankara Rishabhadeva attained liberation. No wonder, this place receives flock of pilgrims from around the globe annually.
How to get there?
Mt Kailash and Mansarovar Lake Tour conducted by Himalayas Hiking starts with a scenic flight to Lhasa city. It is followed by a sightseeing tour around the authentic city of Lhasa. Further, we drive to Mansarovar Lake via Shigatse and Saga. We then complete a circuit around Mt. Kailash. We walk and pass Tarchen, Tarboche, Dirapuk and Zuthulpuk to cross Dolma la pass and return back to Mansarovar. We conclude our journey with a drive back to Lhasa and flight back to your home country.

Our airport representative will be waiting for you outside the airport. Upon your arrival, you will be transferred to your hotel in Kathmandu. Check in the hotel and relax. Rest of the time is on your own. Enjoy your time at the hotel. In the evening, your guide will meet you at the hotel and brief you about the plans ahead. Stay at the hotel for the night.
Your day starts with a breakfast at the hotel. Then your guide will pick you up and take you for sightseeing around Kathmandu valley. Today, you will be taken to the UNESCO listed heritage sites in Kathmandu. At first, we shall visit Kathmandu Durbar Square. It is a beautiful palace in the center of Kathmandu. Built in medieval period during Malla reign, it is a huge complex that comprises of palace turned into museum, courtyards and temples. It is a fine piece of wooden crafts, metal crafts and stone crafts. After exploring this complex, we head towards Swayambhunath, a stupa placed in a hill top. The stupa is followed by a visit to an old temple of Lord Shiva – Pashupatinath temple. This temple holds high significance amongst Hindu pilgrims. Finally, the sightseeing tour ends with a visit to Boudhanath stupa, a large stupa placed upon three layered mandela. You will be dropped at the hotel for the night.
You will be escorted to Kathmandu airport to catch a scenic flight over the Himalayas to Lhasa. At Lhasa, our Chinese crew will pick you up and transfer to hotel in Lhasa.
You will be picked up from your hotel for a sightseeing tour around Lhasa city. Today, we visit places like Sera monastery, Norbulingka palace, Jokhang temple and Bakor Street. In the evening, you will be transferred back to your hotel. Tonight at Lhasa
It’s another day of sightseeing tour around Lhasa city. You will be picked up from your hotel and transferred to the places like Potala palace and Depung monastery. You can enjoy your time exploring the beauty and glory of these places. In the evening, you will be transferred back to your hotel. Tonight at Lhasa
Today, we hop into a land cruiser and drive to Gyantse. We follow Tsangpo River and drive up to Khampa La. We cross the pass with outstanding views of Yamdrok Lake and Ningdzingzonka peak on sight. From the pass, we drive towards west to reach Gyantse. Here, we visit Pelkor monastery and drive to Shigatse. Tonight at Shigatse
Today, we continue our drive along Bhramaputra River. We pass some villages and camps of yak herders on the way to Saga. The drive for the day goes through flat land with stunning views of Himalayas and Tibetan landscapes. Tonight at Saga
Leaving Saga, we drive towards Mansarovar Lake. It’s the longest day drive of our entire journey. On the way, we stop at Chui gompa to visit the gompa. Then we head towards Mansarovar Lake. As we reach the lake, we will be rewarded with some outstanding views of Mt. Kailash and Mansarovar Lake. Tonight at Mansarovar Lake
We wake up besides the stunning lake in the backdrop of holy Mt. Kailash. We take bath and enjoy swimming in the holy lake of the lake. As per mythology, a bath in the lake is an ailment to heart, body and soul. We explore sometime around the lake and drive towards Tarchen. Tonight at Mansarovar Lake
Today, we start kora around Mt. Kailash. We follow Ashapath (the path from Tarchen) and walk forwards enjoying the views of mountains, cliffs and waterfalls. In a clear day, the views of mountain and Tibetan landscapes look stunning. We walk pass Tarboche to arrive at Dirapuk. Tonight at Dirapuk
Continuing our kora, we walk along a scenic route that undulates up and down to the Dolma La pass. It is recommended to cross the pass as early as possible because in afternoon, the weather may get bad. The weather at the pass is very unpredictable. From the pass, we descend down to Zuthulpuk. Tonight at Zuthulpuk
Today is the last day of our kora journey. In the morning, we visit some temples and shrines built around Milarepa cave. From here, we walk to Tarchen and complete our kora around Mt. Kailash. Then we drive back to Mansarovar and then to Saga. Tonight at Saga
We are almost at the end of our journey. We continue our drive back via same path to Shigatse. Tonight at Shigatse
Today, we drive to Lhasa airport and take a flight back to Kathmandu airport. A scenic flight above the Himalayas will take us back to Kathmandu. Upon arrival, you will be picked up at the airport and dropped to your hotel in Kathmandu.
Finally, after a successful accomplishment of Mt Kailash and Mansarovar Lake Tour, you will be driven to Tribhuwan International airport to catch a return flight back to your home destination.
