Langtang Gosaikunda Trek is a wonderful trekking experience that combines spectacular valley of Langtang with the serene high mountain lakes in Gosaikunda. Langtang valley and Gosaikunda lake are two main highlighting aspects of Langtang Gosaikunda Trek. Langtang is a beautiful valley that lies very close to Kathmandu valley. Though close, the valley is able to maintain its remoteness. The dry and rocky terrain of the valley makes it even more alluring. The magnificent mountains that rises tall above the valley adds to the glory of the place. The valley is mostly inhabited by people of Tamang community. They follow Tibetan Buddhist religion and have their own unique culture, custom, festivals, languages, songs, dances and lifestyle. Kyanjin gompa is a popular monastery in the valley. The cheese factory of the valley is also very popular. Besides, the empowering views of Langtang Himal, Langtang Lirung and Dorje Lakpa from Kynajin Ri, nothing could be more enticing.
Gosaikunda Lake is also popular destination in Langtang region of Nepal. The place has high significance amongst the Hindu pilgrims. As per Hindu mythology, during Samundra manthan (process of extraction of elixir by demons and gods), Sesnag (King of snake) was used as rope to rub mountain in between the ocean. During the process poison was generated that could destroy the world. Lord Shiva, the great one drank the poison to save the world from poison. He couldn’t bear the pain of burn hence struck his trident in the mountain to drink water in order to reduce the burning sensation. Therefore, the lake was formed from the water from mountain which is now known as Gosaikunda lake. The place has many other lakes around it like Bhairav Kunda, Chandra Kunda, Dudhkunda, Ragarkunda, etc. A bath in the holy lake water of Gosaikunda is believed to relief a person from all kind of sins.
The route of Langtang Gosaikunda Trek in detail
The journey of Langtang Gosaikunda Trek starts with a drive from Kathmandu to Soti Khola. The trail then traverses through a forested area to enter into Langtang Conservation Area. We pass Lama Hotel to Langtang village in Langtang valley. We hike up to Kyanjin Ri to visit Kyanjin gompa and relish our eyes with some stunning views of mountains. then we drop down to Thulo Syabru from where we climb up to Gosaikunda lake. We cross Lauribina La pass and enjoy some majestic views of mountains in Langtang range. No sooner, we drop down to Syabrubensi and conclude our journey with a drive back to Kathmandu. Welcome to the capital city of Nepal! Kathmandu, the capital city of Nepal is a center of art and culture. It preserves some fantastic forms of cultural, historical and religious heritages in Nepal. A representative from our company will pick you up and the airport and escort you to a pre booked hotel in Kathmandu. Overnight at a hotel in Kathmandu
After breakfast at the hotel, we take a drive along the highway towards Syabrubensi. We drive along a scenic route and pass various countryside landscape on our way to Syabrubensi. The ride for the day passes through some stunning scenery full of countryside vegetation, settlements and forested areas. The road is graveled and you may feel the bump of the bumpy road in some sections of the route. We start our walking journey today. After breakfast, we cross a bridge over the Trishuli and walk slowly and gradually via the plain land. Then we traverse through some lush forests and then through the landslide prone areas. We walk pass the bamboo forests and ascend up gradually until we reach Lama Hotel. On the route, we pass some settlement areas that resembles to that of the Tibetan villages. Even the settlement areas are inhabited by people of ethnic communities. Leaving Lama Hotel, we start walking through the forests of bamboo and rhododendron to Gunachowk. On a clear day, we will be able to get the glimpse of Langtang Lirung, Naya Kanguru and many other surrounding peaks. We pass the settlements areas like Thomna, Ghortabela and Thyangsyap on the way to open up to Langtang valley. The valley is really a stunning picturesque location to be at. Today is a short day walk. We hike up to Kyanjin Ri which is a beautiful view point that offers some incredible views of Langtang valley and Langtang Himal along with Dorje Lakpa and Langtang Lirung. After some wonderful views from the Ri, we walk towards Kyanjin gompa which is a popular spiritual hub in Langtang region. Langtang village is mostly inhabited by people of Tamang community who follow Buddhism religion. After walking up to Kyanjin Ri and visiting Kyanjin gompa, we spend our time exploring the Langtang village. We even visit the famous Yak Cheese Factory in Langtang. Today, we leave Langtang village and walk back to Lama Hotel. As we travel back, the Langtang village in the backdrop of Himalayas looks even more beautiful and appealing. The trail mostly descends down the forested area and settlement areas today. It’s the same path that we had taken earlier to reach Langtang village. As we will be walking through the conservation area, we may encounter some wildlife like panda or Himalayan sheep if lucky. Overnight at a teahouse in Lama Hotel
On the first half of the day, we walk along the landslide prone area. Then we march ahead towards the Thulo Syabru village. We pass the village of Bamboo and walk gradually uphill towards the village of ThuloSyabru. ThuloSyabru village is a beautiful village inhabited by people of Tamang community. As we reach the village, we explore around the periphery area. Overnight at a teahouse in Thulo Syabru village.
After breakfast, we start our walk uphill with wonderful views of majestic mountains in the backdrop. We ascend up until we reach the ridge of Phoprang danda. At here, we can enjoy the fresh breeze with the stunning views of mountains. From the Danda, we walk down and pass the forests of rhododendron to Sing gompa. The place is also known as Chandan Bari. From here, we walk ahead until we reach the village of Lauribina. On the way, we pass the forested area where the red Panda have been seen. As we reach Lauribina, we can get some wonderful views of Manaslu Himal, Annapurna Himal and Ganesh Himal. Overnight at a teahouse in Lauribina
We start our day with some inspiring views of Himalayas in Lauribina. Leaving Lauribina, we walk towards the holy lake of Gosaikunda. We walk through a beautiful trail that traverses through small streams, pastures and pristinely environment to the stunning lake in the backdrop of beautiful Himalayas. Gosainkunda lake has a great significance amongst the Hindu pilgrims. Many Hindus come to this place yearly to take a bath in the lake. It is believed that a holy bath in the lake relieves you from all types of sins done during the lifetime. In the peripheral area, there are more lakes like Bhairav kunda, Dudhkunda, Ragarkunda, Chandrakunda and many more. Today, we explore Gosaikunda lake and the peripheral area. Overnight in Gosaikunda
We wake up with amazing views of mountains and lakes in the surrounding. After breakfast, we start our walk to the village of Gopte. At first, we hike uphill through a rocky path to the Lauribina La pass. It is the highest point of our trek. From here, we can applaud the lavishing views of mountains and lakes. Leaving the pass, we descend down to Goptse enjoying some 360 degree views of rolling hills and snow clad mountains. Overnight at a teahouse in Gopte.
Leaving Goptse, we walk towards the village of Kutumsang. The trail goes mostly downhill through the lush sub-tropical forests. It’s refreshing experience of walking down breathing the freh air in the surrounding. As we walk down the ridge, we can catch some awesome glimpse of Dorje Lakpa and Sishapangma. Today, we leave Kutumsang and head towards a popular hiking destination near Kathmandu valley i.e. Chisapani. Chisapani is a beautiful viewpoint that offers some incredible views of snowcapped mountains and lush hills. The place is also known for the glorious views of sunrise and sunset. From Kutumsang, we descend downhill and pass a wonderful trail up and down through fascinating views of mother nature to Chisapani. Overnight at a teahouse in Chisapani
Even Chisapani is a wonderful viewpoint for sunrise/sunset views amidst the Himalayas. We wake up early to catch a glimpse of sunrise above the mountains. After breakfast, we join a trail to Sundarijal. At first, we start ascending up with views of mountains following us throughout. Then we start descending down along stone paved stairs through the forested conservation area to Sundarijal. Upon arrival, you will be driven to a hotel in Kathmandu. Overnight at the hotel
Finally, it’s time for departure. You will be transferred to the airport few hours before your scheduled flight.
