Trip Overview

Mt. Kanchanjunga is the third highest peak in the world with a height over 8585m. Located in beautiful terrain of the eastern region of Nepal, it shares the Nepali border with Sikkim. Kanchenjunga Base Camp Trek is a word derived from the old Tibetan culture that means ‘Five Treasures of Snow’ which can be seen in the form of five different summits of the Kanchenjunga range. These five peaks represent Gold, Silver, Stone, Grain and Holy Scripture which the locals worship with a deep belief in their culture and religion. Mt. Kanchenjunga is a dream mountain for many adventure seekers due to its remoteness and less crowd.

Kanchenjunga Base camp trek presents the trip to the remote Himalayan areas in the eastern part of the country. Kanchenjunga base camp trek is located in Kanchenjunga Conservation Area, a vast land covering an area of 2035 square kilometers.

The trails are rarely used and are still fresh for the outsiders. Kanchenjunga base camp trekking is still considered as exploratory trekking in Nepal, and we retrace our route to Taplejung and return to Kathmandu. It is the perfect trip for those seeking the quiet and less visited areas in the world. You can boast of finding a new world within the mountain territory and tell the tale of your adventure in the new land. For many, the off the beaten route provide adequate adrenaline to test their limits. You can bid goodbye to the luxuries and embrace natural beauty.

Many tourists who have visited the area claim that the route through Arun valley is the most beautiful one. The trails are deep-rooted in the mountainous ecstasy with lush landscapes, thick rhododendron forests, bamboo jungles, and rare vegetation. These localities are very popular for bird watching as well. However, nothing tops the view of the rare and elusive creatures like snow leopard and red pandas – they are the real treat of this trip.

Kanchenjunga Base camp trek trail was opened for the travelers in the late 80’s yet it has so far received limited numbers of visitors. There are several routes yet to be identified and explored. This provides the exact opportunities for the trekkers to carve their names in trekking history. The tough journey offers an infinite diversity of landscapes and unparalleled beauty of panoramic views of the majestic Himalayas.

The detailed itinerary includes your arrival and departure days and you real trek begins from Suketar, Taplejung. A special trekking permit is required for trekking in the Kanchenjunga from a government registered trekking company in Nepal.
